This week The Vegan Box came! I was so excited to try everything out but what caught my eye the most was the brown package with Hot Choccy written on the front. I am a sucker for anything chocolate (especially if it involves a warm drink) so when I saw this I knew I had to try it out as soon as possible. My tea cupboard has recently been infiltrated with many forms of hot chocolate powders but none as organic and as perfect looking as this.
Yesterday I went all for it and decided to make myself a cup of hot chocolate using the choccy powder! I must admit I am one of those *pours a ridiculous amount of hot chocolate powder in which happens to be about x5 the recommended amount* people so as usual I put a lot of the powder in to make it as chocolatey as possible. I added a small amount of soy milk and some hot water to really dissolve the powder and mix it in. Then I sat down and took a big sip of this awesome drink (nearly burning my mouth mind you).
Let me give you a run down of the what it tasted like. First of all if you are a 60% cocoa type person when it comes to Lindt chocolate, this will not be for you. If you are a 90% cocoa person who lives and breathes dark chocolate this will be for you. The dark chocolate, bitter type taste that all dark chocolate lovers love is prominent through out the drink. It is quite strong so I do recommend following the instructions on that back and only add the amount it tells you to add. Don’t go overboard and add more.
I thought it would be cool to try it in some other things so I put a couple of teaspoons in my smoothie. This turned out really good! While I could barely taste the chocolate powder in every sip, every so often I could taste that really nice hint of dark chocolate.
Overall, to recap, this chocolate drink is for the hardcore dark chocolate lovers. Follow the instructions on the brown packaging and you can make delicious hot and cold drinks, smoothies and much more!
I am 14, live in Sydney and am the only vegan in a meat eating family. I am also a competitive swimmer (I train 5- times a week) so for me the focus on proper vegan nutrition is very important. I love to read anything from classics to non-fiction. In the future I see myself as a biologist and peace maker! Veganism is the greatest joy and life I could be living. I love to debate and promote veganism to fellow teenagers.
